Lesley Allison (1990) is a documentary photographer and woodworker currently based out of Seattle, Washington. She was raised on a small Wisconsin apple orchard surrounded by oak forests and dairy farmers. Here she cultivated an appreciation for beauty in her daily surroundings.
In 2010, Lesley ventured to Tamil Nadu, India, where she studied environmental and social issues, accompanied always by a camera. It was in India where she received the name Jaggerie (Jaggery, Jaggeree), a traditional raw cane sugar made up of date, cane juice or palm sap, frequently used in Asia. The name Jaggerie symbolizes an authenticity and rawness that is represented through her work.
Lesley studied Art and Environmental Studies at the University of Vermont, with an emphasis in Photography. Following her Bachelors, she studied Sustainable Design at Yestermorrow Build & Design School in Warren, Vermont.
Her work is a compilation of her travels and life experiences. It is primarily 35mm. It aims to be candid and genuine.
